Here comes the sun

For some reason, I have been feeling that the rainy weather has been putting a slight damper on my mood lately. Which is the complete opposite for me! However, today I was very excited to wake up to clear skies and as I was driving up to school the sun was shining! Sunshine can really brighten any mood. When the sun isn't shining however, I will brighten up my wardrobe, which will help brighten my mood! Here are some cute outfit ideas that will hopefully help brighten your day.

For the boys

I spend allot of time posting about girls fashion and trends, but in reality I spend a great deal of my time admiring and looking at guys style and fashion.  A well dressed male is a huge plus.  If you are reading this post as a male looking for inspiration, or you are a female looking to help a male in need, I hope I offer some insight!

With the Christmas season underway- Christmas is literally in a week... uhh.. There is of course countless parties, functions and get togethers that actually require some effort in the clothing department.  This post will go over and clarify what I believe are male 'must haves' and if you agree or disagree share your love below!

1. A fitted suit:

What a guy really needs is a great fitting suit.  This will make any guy look... wait for it...
LEGENDARY...Cue Barney Stinson.  If you don't know what I am referring too...HowIMetYourMother,  you need to turn on your television now. Barney gets all the lady's because of his incredible taste in suits guys.. its not his amazing personality..

Try to find a suit that is not too loose, but not super-tight — that makes you look taller and leaner, and most importantly.. your ass will also look amazing.. If you aren't feeling the full suited look,  try wearing the pants or blazer solo for a variety of looks.

Ralph Lauren 2011

2.  Button-up Plaid Shirt

First of all, plaid looks amazing on everyone. And when I think of guys in plaid, I tend to picture an Abercrombie and Fitch model wearing one and I loveee it. Plaid is a good choice all year round, worn by itself, or under a blazer or sweater.  However you wear it, guys in plaid look GOOD end of discussion.

3.  Day-Night Over Coat

Hoodies and leather jackets don't always cut it, especially when attending a nice dinner or function.  Look for a fitted over coat that is versatile enough that it can be worn from day to night.

4.  The perfect shoe

The hunt for perfect shoes aren't just for girls.  Guys need shoes that can go with their jeans and their suits.  Why not save some money and go for a pair that does both.

5.  Seasonal Scarf

It's December, its obviously cold out.  And chances are, your neck is cold too. Girls don't just wear scarfs because they complete an outfit or look good.. they can actually keep you warm..

6. The perfect Jean

Guys need jeans that aren't baggy at all, but not super skinny and tight either... that trend is luckily over and sorry guys, but skin-tight jeans don't even look good on girls half of the time.  A dark color  means it's super versatile and super stain-resistant, too.

Naked & Famous $126, available at Park & Bond.
7. Crew-neck sweater

Everyone should own their very own versatile grey crew-neck sweater.  It can literally be worn with everything, if worn correctly.  And if you want to spend the extra cash, go for one in cashmere.. both you and your significant other will love the feeling of it.

8. The plain white T

So simple yet so goood.  I dont know if it's just me, but I LOVE V-necks, there is just something about them that looks good.  And guys have it easy, you can buy a pack of four from a store for $20 or less!

Look of the Day

Looking for a cute outfit to wear on a night out, or even afternoon shopping downtown? I put together a look that is both sexy  and fun for night time and trendy and versatile for day (just  trade some of the peices for a simpler look)!

Pair a classic white button up top with a cute pair of black leather shorts, or if you aren't feeling brave just go with regular black high-er waisted shorts.  Add a black tuxedo-style blazer and a luxurious Scarlett red faux fur scarf.  Pick a pair of black pumps, or flats and pair with gold and black statement jewelry pieces.  The added animal print clutch adds an unexpected edge and then complete the look with a pair of black tights and a black wool hat.

Perfect looks, for all Christmas festivities!

You don't even need to set foot inside a major department store to get the memo that the holiday season is upon us. Tinsel and turkey and bells of all sorts will soon remind you that the hollidays are completley unavoidable, and then slowly, the invitations (read anxiety) will roll in. Chill out and plan ahead. There's sure to be a mid-week bash with everyone from the office, the annual family reunion and at least one friendly holiday soiree featuring he-who-must-not-be-named (not Voldemort, silly.. I am refering to your ex). So, cut the seasonal stress, and get decked out in fabulous winter dresses and trends!

A new take on an old classic

This Holiday season I have got a new fashion crush on the tried and true holiday favorite...  Velvet.  And this time it isn't just for obnoxious tracksuits anymore ladies! It is now lining the racks of designer and local boutiques and stores and making a statement in magazines and fashion blogs around the globe.  If you are looking for something different to wear to a Holiday party or event this winter, try to find a special velvet piece! Designers are creating pieces in a variety of velvety textures including quilted, printed and even bejewelled...(Dont know how I feel about bejewelled velet.... seems like something the ManRepeller might post about?)  Enjoy:)

6. Monsoon black coat -$80
7.
Miss Selfridge black hair accessory -$6.50

And if you aren't feeling ready to rock a velvet frock, try going for some accessories, or shoes! You can NEVER go wrong with a hot pair of heels!!

Make your season bright

Fall and Winter are my two favorite seasons.  I love layering cozy pieces together and piling on cute winter accessories.  The color selections of seasonal clothes always standout against the cold weather, so try to add a peice of color to any winter outfit.  In order to keep your wardrobe festive and stylish try dressing in more seasonal colors and with Christmas around the color, try adding a nice Holiday red to your closet.

Fall Must-haves!!

I was inspired by fashion style guru Rachel Zoe for this post on some fabulous fall must haves. Here is my take on what every fabulous fashionista should fill their already over-flowing closets with!

This fall try sporting a Chic Fedora- a trend that can be carried throughout all of the seasons! Stylish Rain Gear-boots and umbrella are must haves! Cat Eye Sunglasses- Gotta’ keep your eyes protected so you can continue to spot cute pieces to add to your wardrobe! Something Python- So Luxe! A statement ring- Usually for after hours, but why not try to mix one into a day look? A Patent pouch- Patent was taking over the shoe and handbag world, now tryout a patent clutch! Drop earrings in jewel tonnes. Suede heels- a different take on heels, cute paired with tights! Try a Color Block belt in fun colors and textures. Cozy sweaters- perfect for snuggling up on the couch, or worn throughout the day! Lace up ankle boots- these are great if you can find them in more neutral colors, they can easily be worn with anything. Coloured cords in a fun fall tonne ( who would have ever imagined cords would make a comeback… not me)..Statement cuff, cute gloves, something mustard! This color is fabulous and amazing for fall. A statement scarf- I La-la-LOVE animal print, so animal print is always a good choice in my books! Some people are really against the whole faux fur look, but if it is faux, I don’t see what the big deal is, it can make any outfit catwalk worthy. I love the look of a fur vest over a plain long sleeve top, definitely adds style to a plain outfit! Now, I know it isn’t winter just yet, but beanies are defiantly cute and the cosier and the warmer, the better! Finally, amp your look up with a fun tall nail trend! Look for shades that are deep, dark, warm, or jewel tonne to add some extra spice to your look!

MTV VMAS

The Sunday night, live VMA show was a success, with performances from Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Adele, Jay Z and Kanye West and sooo many more (those were my favorites of course!) and we cant forget the amazing tributes to Brittney Spears, Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett. The show was hothothot and of course, the celebrities fashion choices were on the topic for discussion. Any show put on by MTV will cause celebrities to battle it out for the worst dressed title, and most of the other celebs wore just blah ensembles this year..a little disappointing! However, here are my favorite looks and some of my other favorite looks of the night, but for different reasons..

BEST:

Beyonce looked amazing as ever, showing off her newly announced Baby news!!
Is it totally wrong that I like Snookies dress in a small, weird way?

WORST:
Oh Deena.. if that dress wasn't bad enough, your bad hair extension job is even worse...

Who would have expected that Christian Dior was responsible for this little number...

The girl has talent and its awesome that she is daring with her looks, but this is just a Harajuko  Girl on steroids..

This is just gross..

THE UNDECIDED:

I honestly don't know how I feel about these two dresses.. I think I like them, I just don't know! I mean at least Miley Cyrus is wearing something covering her body for once, but this one is more age appropriate for a eighty year old woman.

Hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did!!

Friday Favorite-Electric blue' Feel

These past few weeks, I have really been idolizing over colbat blue. It is striking, powering and just looks damn good on. I have only purchased one colbat blue item- a half silk, see through-ish blouse that is a bit longer so it can be worn with leggings and it has these cute gold buttons down the front.  The next colbat blue item on my wishlists is some tailored pants!

Here are some other electric blue' peices to help inspire you:
